I've signed up for the Loveland Art Studio Tour since it's my first year that I won't be working at the gallery for the first time in 30 years! Take advantage of this occasion! It is rare for me to open my studio to the public (honestly, it's even rare for family and friends). The actual studio isn't large, but it is adjacent to my living room where I will have several finished pieces on display for sale. I'll have varied sizes and price points and I hope you find a painting that resonates with you well enough to want to live with it. I look forward to showing you what I'm working on this Fall.

I'm pleased that my painting "Fiery" has been selected for Artworks Center for Contemporary Art's next National Group Exhibition: Engulfed. Opening: July 14th, 6-9pm - September 30th An exhibition shedding light on the crisis of forest fires across the globe. Artists respond to the forest fires by developing work that focuses on global warming, resource destruction, property damage, loss of life, wilderness protection, sustainability, political issues, fire mitigation, first responders, or broadly conceptual work dealing with the interpretation of “engulfed”. "The stark nature of the plains are exaggerated by fiery skies from nearby wildfires. It seems this is the future's appearance, as clear blue skies are replaced by smoke-filled orange; buildings and trees flatten into the horizon as wild fires increasingly rage. The image is beautiful and brutal all at once, brutiful."

I painted a portrait of him for Christmas. As I worked on it, he rescued two more dogs. So I painted them as well. I then decided to paint portraits as gifts for each family member and some close friends to take care of the holidays. Before I knew it, I had 12 portraits and started getting commissions for others. After a year, I had painted 36 dogs. By then it was time to get cats on board too, so I started the Nine Lives series. They are incredible paintings to work on – very joyful. Even when it’s for a pet that’s passed on, I find them very healing and comforting to work on for me. And presenting the paintings is an even more rewarding act. The recipient usually has tears, but in a good way. Our animals touch us in deep ways I’m honored to reproduce a small amount of that connection through these paintings.
