The pretty in pink Miss Elizabeth Bennet was a real pleasure to paint knowing the portrait raised funds for HALO rescue to help dogs in need. This portrait was the winner of the 2021 HALO auction. The Havanese Angel League Organization for Rescue (HALO) is a registered non-profit dedicated to the survival and care of Havanese dogs. "Our goal is to save one Havanese at a time. Since we were formed in 2002, we have rescued over 1500 Havanese." All funds go towards vet costs for the rescues.

The Havanese has won many admirers with their long, silky hair, expressive eyes, and cuddly size. Bred as a companion dog to the Cuban aristocracy in the 1800s, they’ve earned the nickname “Velcro dog” because they stick so closely to their owner’s side.
